Day 4: Finyx is eating well and today has started to put just a LITTLE more trust into people, approaching & sniffing as opposed to kicking at us! Lol that "Fire" is what will get her through this horrible condition. Love this girl.

Day 3

Day 3: Finyx says GoodMorning.... She's still surviving, eating & drinking well BUT is still hesitant to put her trust into anyone and let us love on her. She will come around though... A damaged spirit takes time to mend just like her damaged body. She is a fighter this one, keep her in your prayers! 󾍛

Day 2 of Finyx's rescue & recovery process... she has made it to San Diego, but not without issue. Approximately one mile out from the ranch she went down in the trailer due to her weakened condition and was shaking and breathing hard. She expended every drop of energy her poor body had fighting to load and then stabilizing herself on the road. However she was able to get up and spent the night in a big stall with a good inner and only suffered a few minor scrapes!  she continues to show her firey personality by attempting to kick everyone... we don't mind though because we want that fire in her burning! The Vet visited her today and was shocked she is still alive in this condition, she needs her teeth floated and hooves trimmed, but in her current condition it would be detrimental so we must wait for her to gain strength.  For now its quality claories at a slow pace and lots of TLC!
Everyone meet "Finyx" (Phoenix)... whom was previously named Wild Orchid. This is the day we had her signed over to our care and took her from the hell hole she was being starved to death in! As you can see she is severely emaciated... app 500 lbs underweight, malnourished & weak. She does not trust humans, rightly so and it took us 2 hours to get her to load into a trailer so we could get her to a proper home! Unfortunately her brother who was there also was euthanized the day before we got to them due to his extremely poor condition, so we are lucky that she is even with us now. We have renamed her Finyx due to her attitude & fire inside... "fight for life" she gave us hell getting her in the trailer, cow kicking, bucking and rearing. this fight and fire in her makes us believe she will rise up from her demise in the image of a phoenix bird.... The Fire Horse "Finyx"!
