Big Shocker! 😱

We learned this am that our beautiful, sweet Red mare Otekah that we rescued is lactating and bagged up! What!??? Are you serious? Awaiting the vets confirmation later this week to see if she truly is with foal! Prayers that if she is she is strong enough to pull through this and the foal healthy enough to survive! This is her now, app 1 week after her rescue! She's a happy girl and turns the water on every morning herself to drink and play in it lol.

Finyx

Almost 3 weeks after we took her in and Finyx is already looking much better! Still a long road of recovery but she's doing very well and her feet are improving also! Strong girl with a fighting spirit our Finyx is!

A Few Setbacks! :(

10/6/14
Today the Ferrier came out to take care of the girls and we learned:

Finyx: has thrush very badly in 3 of her feet, one of which may be to the bone it's so bad! She will be getting x-rays to verify the severity. Also antibiotics and med boots to soak her feet! Please pray for her.

Otekah: is foundering, she has hardly any good wall on the backs of her hooves and will be receiving corrective shoeing to get her up off the backs of them! Ohhh did we mentions she cribs too! πŸ™ˆThe vet thinks she is app 2o years old... She likes to share her water with Leela the dog. 😁

These girls are some hot messes but we love them & adore their fighting spirits to survive!

Finyx Update & Otekah's arrival!

Sunday 10/5/14

Miss Finyx has put on app 100-150 lbs in just over a week, we are so excited!

Otekah trailered very well, arrived at the ranch safely and is settling in!

10/2/14

10/2/14
Finyx is settling in more and accepting some love and spoiling with carrots from the neighbors!

Otekah

Everyone meet "Otekah" (oh-tee-kuh) ... She is an app 20 year old appendix mare that was confiscated from a private home by the Norco shelter and she is the newest addition the the rescue family. Like Finyx she has suffered severe neglect for years and possibly abuse, but is a very sweet girl!

Day 6

Sooo Finyx is slowly coming around and we learned today that she LOVES kids & will follow them around! This is excellent news!!! I knew she had a soft soul... She showed it to me the day we picked her up even in all her fear and distrust of humans. The connection with children will help her to regain her trust in humans!
